When Legionella first originated no one knew what it was. It first obtained its name in July of 1976. Doctors later researched it and found out that it formed in stagnant water and was very lethal to people.
Legionella is a pathogenic bacterium that causes many diseases.
The first known epidemic of a disease caused by Legionella was in 1957 in Austin Minnesota at the time no one knew what the disease actually was but later on scientists found out it was indeed the bacteria Legionella and it was formed in a cooling tower just outside the town

Prevention

Legionella can form under many conditions. Some of these conditions are
Warm Water
Stagnant Water
Water that is not cleaned properly
This bacteria usually form in
Jacuzzis
Pools that are not taken care of
Hot water tanks
Water towers
Some ways that this bacteria can be prevented from forming is by cleaning your jacuzzi regularly, taking care of your pool, and checking the levels of your hot water tank. Another way to prevent the formation of Legionella is by not letting water sit stagnant for long periods of time and by maintaining the water temperature of your pool and hot water tanks.
